poetry through the cracks

Anteroom is a UK-based online literary magazine publishing radical and catalytic writing and art.

An anteroom is a place of anticipation; of negative capability; here we pause before entering another space. We are drawn to writing that resists easy answers and remains open to discovery. We seek poems that are fearless enough to inhabit ambiguity and transformation without rushing towards resolution.

We publish poetry with urgency and risk. We are interested in work that feels alive to the world while reaching beyond it – poems that unsettle and language that surprises us through precision, imagination and depth. We are drawn to the architecture of feeling: the liminal, the slant, the spaces around a subject, the intimacies and difficulties that push language.

We are a place for high-stakes emotions and beginning lines. We believe that all art is transitory, altered by each act of reading, and that the most compelling poems remain in motion long after they are read.

Anteroom exists as a place for that movement – to wait, listen at the door, step outside the crowd and uncover what lies beyond.
